ANRF Advanced Research Grant (ARG) – Call for Proposals (Summary)
The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), established by the ANRF Act 2023, aims to foster research and innovation across India. The ANRF is now inviting proposals for its Advanced Research Grant (ARG) program.
Purpose of ARG: To provide financial support for high-impact fundamental research (TRL 1-3) and use-inspired applied research (TRL 1-6) in frontier areas of science and technology. The program encourages individual and collaborative projects with transformative potential.

Core Eligibility Highlights

- Investigators: Indian citizens; Foreign nationals (OCI/PIO) employed in eligible Indian institutions (specific conditions apply).
- Position: Must hold a regular academic/research position in recognized Indian institutions/labs. Not for those pursuing PhD.
- Qualification: PhD or Master’s degree in relevant fields (MD/MS/MDS) with specified research experience.
- Service Duration: Generally, project duration plus one year of service remaining.
- Host Institutions: Recognized academic institutions, National Labs, DSIR-SIRO recognized private R&D bodies, and eligible NGOs.

Nature & Duration of Support
- Project Duration: Up to 5 years (funding beyond 3 years is performance-based).
- Funding Limit: Maximum of ₹5 Crores. Proposals over ₹1 Crore undergo additional scrutiny.
- Budget Heads: Covers recurring (personnel, consumables, travel etc.) and non-recurring (equipment) costs. Overheads as per ANRF norms.
Application & Evaluation
- Submission: Online via the ANRF portal: www.anrfonline.in.
- Process: Involves pre-proposal screening followed by full proposal review.
- Evaluation: Based on scientific merit, novelty, potential impact, feasibility, and team expertise.
- Participation Limit (per call): Typically, one proposal as PI and one as Co-PI (subject to specific call guidelines).
